Black Bear Hunting Trips Black Bear Hunting Guides

Black bear hunting in Alaska cannot be compared to any other kind of wild animal pursuit, even tracking down other kinds of bears. The beast, Ursus Americanus, is smaller and more agile. However, the sheer numbers of black bears in Alaska means that you are all but assured you will bring home the target. Nothing is staged. This is fair-chase hunting!

Our guides welcome experienced hunters, novices, and members of a party who simply want to come along for the hiking and to watch the excitement. Non-hunters get a reduced rate! A hunt for the black bear is often extremely satisfying for the novice hunter because of the prevalence of the animals.

When is black bear hunting season?
You have your choice of two times of year for hunts.
  1. Spring season begins around May 1 and runs into mid-June. The bears emerge from hibernation and their winter haunts around this time when food is again available.
  2. Fall black bear hunts start in August and run until the end of September. These bears are feeding on mostly berries; this can be a singularly rewarding time for your adventure because the bears are at higher elevations.
